Beginning March 18th, 2020 through to at least May 31st, 2020, the Welfare Department is restricting public access. Due to the change in Town Hall access, we will be adjusting the application process and will be limiting appointments to phone appointments only until further notice. Email, standard mail, fax, phone calls, and the dropbox outside the Academy Building will become standard for submission of an application for general assistance.
If you are applying for general assistance due to a disconnect for utility services, the utility cannot shut off your service at this time; an eviction, your landlord cannot evict you during this emergency declaration; and if due to a reduction of hours or layoff, you need to apply to NH Employment Security for unemployment benefits as soon as possible.

New Hampshire Employment Security at www.nhes.nh.gov or 603-271-7700 to begin the process to obtain emergency unemployment benefits. NHES is in charge of processing the emergency unemployment benefits associated with the Covid-19 virus. Please have patience when trying to get on the website or calling the office, as there are thousands of people trying to access the sites at the same time.
Community Action Program
As of Monday, we will only be open for food distribution. We will continue to offer monthly USDA boxes and weekly food during ONLY the following times:
- Mon, Wed Friday 9-12
- Tues, Thurs 1-4 pm
This is the only time the office will be open. We cannot have direct person to person interviews for FUEL and ELECTRIC assistance however we will be processing all applications by mail.
