Prior and Currently Serving Trustees and Sexton
Cemetery Trustees
Per NH RSA, 289:6 the Town must elect a Board of Cemetery Trustees or delegate the duties of said Trustees to the Board of Selectmen. In 1988 Town Meeting authorized the Board of Selectmen to appoint three Cemetery Trustees with said positions to be elected by ballot in all future years. In 2024 Town Meeting voted to expand the number of Trustees from 3 to 5 and the Selectmen appointed the then Alternates as full Trustees, both to be elected positions at the end of their current terms. Individuals appointed and elected are indicated below.
Cemetery Alternate Trustees
Per NH RSA, 289:6 the Trustees may recommend to the Selectmen the names of no more than 2 persons who may serve as alternate members on the board. Alternate members shall be appointed to one-year terms.
Cemetery Sexton
Per NH RSA, 289:7,II Cemetery trustees may appoint a cemetery custodian or sexton who shall not be a trustee and who shall be responsible to the cemetery trustees for supervising work done in the cemeteries. Gilmanton Cemetery Trustees first appointed a Cemetery Sexton on July 24, 2019.
